CENTRAL LEAGUE GAME WRITE UPS

 Thrive Healing and Mgr. Ralph Benjamin clinch winter session championship! 


 Thrive Healing Center – 7 Canyon State – 5 

With a hard fought 7-5 win over Canyon State, Thrive Healing Center has claimed the winter session championship. The game entered the final inning tied at five. After scoring two in the top of the seventh Thrive held Canyon State scoreless in the bottom half to seal the win and the championship. Kevin Kelley (with an extra e), Rich Cherry and Jim Linzmeier led the Thrive attack with three hits each. Cherry’s hits included a triple and double and Linzmeier added a double. Tony Matthews was good for three hits on the day for Canyon State. Craig Hone and Dave Baldwin both smacked doubles for State. 


 Phoenix Sports - 11 Paul Tone – 8 

Phoenix Sports maintained a firm hold on second place with an 11-8 win over Paul Tone. Tone outscored Phoenix Sports over the last here innings 5-2 but it wasn’t enough to make up the deficit of the first four innings. Ron Bedford had a strong day with four hits including a double and three RBIs. Rich Berndt was strong at the top of the lineup with three hits and was matched by the three hits of sub Mike Currie. For Tone Chuck McFarland came out swinging with four hits followed by the three hits each of Craig Martin and Tom Albanese. Albanese also added a double to the scoresheet. 


 Suzi’s Home Cleaning - 4 Hole N One – 5 

There was very little scoring in the early going of this game as it stood just 1-1 after four. Hole N One edged Suzi’s by one run over the final three innings to pull out the 5-4 win. Mike Currie led Hole N One with four hits and three RBIs, while Jesse Nelson and Dottie Johnson had matching three hit days. Nelson’s triple and score in the bottom of the seventh provided the winning run after Suzi’s had score three in the top half of the inning to tie the game. Jim Savage was the lone Suzi’s batter with more than two hits as he tallied three. Joe Calloway had their one extra base hit with a double. 


 Team Peterson – 10 Saini Smiles – 6 

After scoring six runs through three innings Saini Smiles was held in check by Peterson pitcher Bob Latterall the rest of the game. During the same period Team Peterson had put eight runs up which was enough to give Peterson breathing room for the 10-6 win. Scott MacLeod and sub Jesse Nelson each pounded out four hits for Peterson. Nelson also knocked in three runs. Following closely with three hits was sub Jeff Silbaugh who also added a double. Tom Finn was responsible for knocking in four RBIs. Mike Lavis led Saini Smiles with four hits including a double and four RBIs. Following with three hits were Stephanie Cummings, Ron Stallbaum and Mark Krska.
