Sun City West Softball Club
New Player Welcome & Information
As an introduction to our club, potential players are invited to visit Liberty Field (20638 W RH Johnson Blvd), home of Sun City West Softball Club. To become a member of Sun City West Softball Club, you must be a
resident of Sun City West, have a valid recreation card, a signed waiver form, and contact our Green Team Coordinator, Mike Currie (714) 425-2848, or his assistant, Judy Peltekian (206) 423-0946.
Mike and Judy comprise our Green Team staff. They will help you join league play by explaining the rules of our club and holding Green Team practices on throwing, fielding, and hitting. Our Green Team staff prepares you for league play, and once they feel you are ready to step onto Liberty Field, Mike and Judy will schedule a Green Team tryout where league play is simulated, and a group of players will assess your skills and assign you to a league based on your abilities.
After a new player receives their official league rating, they enter into the appropriate league.
Once assigned a league, you will be required to pay an initial fee of $150. This initial fee is
comprised of a $100 one-time charge for uniform, hat, pants, shorts, and an annual dues fee of
$50. Read the exception below. DUES - New...
DUES – New (Green Team) prospects will pay the full annual dues of $50 when joining between January 1 and June 30. Those who join between July 1 and November 30 will pay $25 for the remainder of the current year. Any new member who joins on or after December 1, and pays both the $50 dues and the uniform fee, will have their dues count for the rest of that year and the entire following year. For returning players, the annual dues are $50, regardless of when the payment is made. Additionally, any returning player who registers through Team Sideline for the upcoming year but does not pay their dues—either by credit card at registration or by cash/check at the field afterward—will be ineligible for the Spring Session draft and play until the dues are paid. Summer ball is also available as scheduled.
Slow-pitch softball bats are required to be stamped with USA or ASA Only identification logo(s) on the bat to play at Liberty Field, and the bats should be 1.20 BPF. The handle must not have more than 2 wraps. A few places to buy bats online are: Just Bats, Smash It Sports, Cheap Bats, Anarchy Bats, Bats Unlimited, and Head Banger Sports. Local batting cages are located at D-Bat, Peoria.
Please check with the Green Team if you
